Build Inter-connection Network between Service Provider and Operator

  • About TTMTelekom
TTMTelekom launched its activities in Turkey in 2009 with the authorization of STH from Turkey's BTK(Information Technology and Communication Authority). TTM Telekom Telecommunications, Network establishment, service and integration solutions use TDM (SS7,PRI), VoIP (H323, SIP) technology in audio solutions. The TTM Telekom hardware structure supports many other STH operators, which are responsible for traffic related to 70 operators in the world, signing interconnection agreements and supporting BTK (Information Technology Foundation).
    About Turkcell
Turkcell is a converged telecommunication and technology services provider, founded and headquartered in Turkey. It provides voice, data, TV, value-added consumer and enterprise services on mobile and fixed networks for users. Turkcell then signed a 25-year GSM license contract with the Ministry of Transportation on April 27, 1998. Since then, it has continuously increased the variety of its services based on mobile voice and data communication, as well as on its quality levels, and as a result, its number of subscribers.
    Background
As a telephone service provider, TTM has a large number of users, providing DIDs and SIP trunking services for users and enterprises. Meanwhile, it has established a good relationship with Landline telephone service providers and mobile operators. It has also set up gateways for inter-connecting to operators and opened digital trunks to various telecom operators through E1/T1 or STM-1 connection. TTMTelecom provides not only voice and fax services for users, but also international telephone access services for telecom operators. With the growth of the number of users, TTM wants to set up data center in Istanbul and open more digital circuits nationwide to serve more users.
    Requirements
TTTMTelekom has set up a MPLS network in Istanbul as the center. According to the scheme, the signaling link from this company to turkcell is connected by SS7, the E1 circuits to Turkcell needs to be opened in seven cities, and the number of E1 circuits in each city is different. On the other hand, the digital media gateway of each city and the soft switch in Istanbul need to connect by SIP trunk, to realize the call in and call out service of telephone and fax from soft-switch to operator Turkcell.
The challenges of this system as following
    • Media gateways need to be deployed in seven cities, but the operators assign only one signaling point code(SPC) to TTM.
    • SS7 links are configured in two cities, but Turkcell only assign only one SPC, which means that media gateways in two different cities need to use the same SPC.
    • SS7 link backup between two cities.
    • Other 5 cities’s media gateways use the same SS7 links of those two cities.

    Solutions

According to requirement of the topology, DINSTAR provides MTG2000 and MTG3000 Digital VoIP Gateway to meet the deployment requirements of TTM.
Solution for sharing SS7 link between two cities
Deploy two MTG2000 media gateways in City A and City B, these two media gateways work as STP device, and use the same SPC code to establish SS7 link to Turkcell, meanwhile, these two media gateways work in balance load, and any of SS7 links’ interruption will not affect the service. MTG2000 media gateway works in SS7 link sharing mode not only solving only one SPC code issue but also increased system reliability.
Solution for E1 circuits of other 5 cities
Deploy MTG3000 media gateways in these 5 cites and only create E1 circuit to Turkcell. Since Turkcell only provides only one SPC, which means that the other five cities cannot create their own SS7 signaling links, and can only communicate through STP devices in the designated two cities. Therefore, all SS7 signaling data of the five cities need to be sent to STP sites through MPLS IP network, and then deliver to Turkcell signaling network.
    Solution for stability problem
Because these two media gateways work in balance load mode, and media gateways in other 5 cities are not configured with No.7 signaling, so the devices in other 5 cities only need to deal with E1 circuit and media, and any problems in any city will not affect the operation of the whole system.
