How to Get the Right System Time of UC2000

  • 1. Overview
When CDR or SMS list shows the wrong time, it might affect the use of the UC2000 GSM VoIP Gateway, especially the billing function. This article is intended to introduce how to correct the system time. UC2000 gets the time by two means, namely the internal clock of the device and the NTP Server. If you choose to use the internal clock of the UC2000, the time will be reset after the UC2000 VoIP GSM Gateway is restarted.
    2. Check the UC2000 setting of System Time
If the UC2000 is connected to SIMCloud, the system time depend of SIMCloud platform set.
If the UC2000 is not connected to SIMCloud, you need to check the network and NTP setting.

    3. Device Network
Try to PING the NTP server address on the Web page of the UC2000, if the address proved to be reachable, it means the network is ok. If the address fails to be reached, please check the network configuration. Ensure the UC2000 is successfully connected to network and the DNS setting is correct. After that, save the configurations and restart the device to make the configurations to take effect.

If UC2000 fails to be connected to the network, you can set the local time through telnet.

Firstly, log into the telnet of the device by using Putty. The default telnet port of the device is 23.

    4. NTP Setting
If Ping works but the system time is still wrong, we need to check the NTP parameters. Please choose a correct time zone, and then set the right NTP server address. If you don’t have a recommended MTP server address, retain the default value. After you finish the setting, save it and restart UC2000 to make the setting take effect.
Notice: UC2000 does not support Daylight Saving Time, so we cannot set something like GMG+2:30 time zone.
